Two Places


With Old Main I just made it black and white and then went through and then used the erase tool to erase on the layer so the color would show. I erased all the windows, the American Flag, and The "A".
Sunshine I just made it black and white and then chose Multiply.
Two Places includes the same pic I used for Sunshine, I just put sunshine on top on the other pick and made sunshine black and white and then in the layers bar I chose darken.

Reading #3
I thought the article on facebook was ok. I thought that the author hit on some key things that are changing in our society because of facebook. Things have become less personal than before with people interacting or facestalking others on the site without ever having to actually interact with them. I think it's damaging to society over all even though it definitely has pluses to it as well. Large masses of people can be alerted on it as well as vital information to 'party plans'. Heaven forbid you actually have to talk to the person on the phone or worse yet in person (sarcasm). I use facebook too, though I think some people rely on it too much to the point that they are addicted. My sister actually made a facebook for my mom, who I don't think has logged on once since it's creation. And I am ok with that. It would be way to weird if my mom or dad got one. I just dread my sister making one for him... I think he would actually use it and do a lot of what the girl in the article fears her mother would do.

Readings #2

The reading for "When Google is NOT your Friend." Was good, scary, but good. I don't like the fact that anything and everything you have searched on google or the internet in general can be used against you later on in court. I think it opens up new possibilities to people being charged with things they haven't done. Framing could be made a lot easier, you might be able to prove that their computer or their log-in shows what was searched for but I don't think you could prove that a person them self was the one who typed it in. If anything after reading that I think I'm even less of a fan of google and more of one of AOL search engines, Microsoft, and last yahoo. The reading was a bit disturbing and like some of the people's comments I think I'll be a lot more careful about what I type in for. Things are becoming way to Big Brother for my liking.
Google is Not Your Friend


"The Coming Tug of War Over the Internet" just made me more angry and upset as what is happening in regards to the web. I'm sick of companies trying to monopolize everything including the internet. Opportunities to discover different websites that you can find now I believe will go down in networks are able to charge google and yahoo for their service at internet providers. I think That 'politics' will take over and net works might not even stop at yahoo or google or any other search engine or company but start charging others, like blog users or anyone who has any website of their own. I just think everything will down spiral quickly if networks are allowed to charge those services. I think the networks should stay 'neutral' and also not give 'priority' to search engines or services.

Readings on "Netiquette"
I finished reading The Core Rules of Netiquette and E-mailing.
For the one on Business E-mailing I found it rather dry and common sense. I thought a lot of it people should already know, but it did serve a type of reinforcement of it. I thought it was accurate and the reasons that they gave for doing or not doing certain things made sense. But it was aimed for at a company's employees or some other corporations. For college students it may have been applied to professors, though I hope they already know how to e-mail one by now. Of course I've learned from past roommates that just because you're in college doesn't mean you're intelligent, book wise or common sense. So maybe that reading was extremely beneficial for some.
In The Netiquette reading I really liked it and particularly liked the opening when it said, "And "etiquette" means "the forms required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be required in social or official life." " I loved that definition. Just thought I'd just share that. However I think etiquette in general is on the critically endangered species list and is on it's way out. I liked some of the humor in the reading too. I thought the whole chapter on ethical choices could have been replaced by a video they show in the movie theaters on illegal downloading but was necessary, while the advice on lurking in message boards smart. I was happy to see things like grammar and the word choices use (or in most cases choose not to use) addressed. Flaming advice was good to know, I always thought it should be avoided, learned otherwise. Over all good reading and helpful for anyone to read. A lot of things I already knew but there was some that I didn't. It was good to refresh and learn some new things from it.
